Ko-fi memberships and Discord roles
The question is whether the Discord role is the product or a perk. On Ko-fi it's a checkbox inside a membership tier, which is all you need if the role rides along with the tips and the shop. We don't do tips, shop pages or commissions at all, so if you sell those too, keep Ko-fi for them and run the roles here.
If the role is the product
- It's granted when the payment clears and pulled when it lapses, and every grant and removal is written down next to the payment that caused it.
- When a renewal fails you get told which member, which payment, and what your payment provider said about it, instead of noticing a month later that someone quietly stopped paying.
- Ko-fi gives you a CSV of payments and members plus a payment notification for developers, but nothing you can ask a question of. Ours is a documented REST API (a web address your own code can call), so "who's active right now" is one request.
- Ko-fi charges a service fee on some payment types, or a paid membership to drop it (ko-fi.com/pricing has the current version). We take nothing from the sale either way.

You don't have to start your dashboard at zero. Feed it a Ko-fi CSV export and your older supporters and their payments show up alongside the new ones, tagged so you can tell which is which.
